LIFE FOREST GUARDIANSHIP BURIAL PROGRAM
Life Forest provides dignified burials to individuals who pass away while wards of the State of New Hampshire's Guardianship program and have no one to claim their remains.
Guardianship is appropriate when it can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the ward is unable to provide for basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, healthcare, and safety and is unable to manage their financial affairs. Often, these are people who are mentally incapacitated, incarcerated, homeless, or without immediate or extended family.
Life Forest's Guardianship Burial Program was spearheaded by Traci Denver, our Director of Burial Services, in 2021. Individuals are given a dignified burial and a beautiful final resting place at Life Forest, ensuring they are never forgotten.
Burials are provided on a sliding scale basis, with many at no cost. Nobody is ever turned away because of their inability to pay. In addition, our GPS-mapped and deed-recorded burials allow distant relatives and friends to locate the burial sites. In fact, some people have been able to find their long-lost relatives at Life Forest because of our service.
Life Forest is proud to work with the New Hampshire Guardianship program.
According to the New Hampshire State website, approximately 6,000 people (2013) in New Hampshire are under some form of guardianship, whether a family member or lawyer. 1450 of those people are under the care of a public guardian.
